Blue Ridge Mountain Volunteer Fire Company provides fire and emergency medical services to the people living in the Harpers Ferry and Charles Town areas and elsewhere in Jefferson County and cooperates in partnership with fire departments beyond. BRMVFC has between 35 and 40 lifetime members, both active and retired, and auxiliary members as well. It is a volunteer-operated corporation that is community supported. The South Jefferson Ruritan Club founded the Blue Ridge Mountain Volunteer Fire Company in 1974. The long-time, active members and volunteers have more than 30 years of experience in fire and rescue services. Earl Cogle is the Fire Chief and Lenny Lehman is the EMS Chief.
